The company deals mainly with the leather tanning industry in Southern Africa. We have customers in Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, Lesotho and throughout South Africa.

We are able to supply a complete range of tannery machinery, new, second-hand or reconditioned and spare parts and consumables from our agency network of mainly Italian, but also German and French machinery manufacturers.

Having supplied equipment for many years, we have references from most of the local tanneries as well as many major tanneries across Southern Africa.

We are agents for the following companies Rudolf Alber, Bauce, Bergi, Italtech, GER Elettronica, Giuliani, New 3P, Krause & Hucker and Poletto Pimac.

A more complete list and details can be found on the N E Teifel & Associates Cc Agencies page.

Starting up a tannery is an expensive and complicated business. You need a good and reliable supply of hides or skins, water and electricity. There is a variety of machinery necessary as there is no such thing as a single magical “tanning machine.” Leather tanning involves both mechanical (physical) and chemical processing of the hides and skins.

Remember that a tannery also needs a good effluent plant to process the water used in the tannery before it can be sent to municipal water treatment. Should you want to start a tannery we suggest that you first consult with a reliable agent like the ISTT (International School of Tanning Technology) based in Grahamstown to determine all your planning and training needs.
